とてもいい授業で、キャサリンの授業がとれて満足してます。記事を音読して、その後、書いてある内容を説明したのですが、音読のとき、読むことだけに集中してしまい、何が書いてあるのかまで気がまわらない自分の弱点に気がつきました。「読みながらすぐ理解する」といういい訓練になると思います。 記事の内容も、興味深く、いいチャレンジになると思います。

彼女のレッスンはWEBのニュースサイト等のアーティクルを読みながら、段落ごとに生徒に要約を説明させるというスタイルで、予習なしでは厳しいものです。他の先生にはあまりこのスタイルをとる人はいなかったように思います。私が彼女がよいと思ったのは、上記のような進め方なので、自然と生徒の発言時間が長くなることにあります。

I'm Lisa. I am a 35 year old American female, very patient and easy-going, yet still positive and "genki", with over 7 years teaching/tutoring experience and 4 years ESL teaching experience. Before returning to my native USA two months ago, I spent 1 year in China, 2 years in Japan and 6 months in Nepal. I really enjoyed learning about the different cultures and traditions of these Asian nations and I wish to one day return. While in Asia, I had the opportunity to teach several different students in various different settings - children in large and small classes, including one-on-one tutoring, junior high and high school students, adults focusing on business, passing the TOEFL and TOEIC exams, those intent on traveling to English speaking countries or those interested in fun, daily conversation topics. My students varied from New/Low Beginnner all the way up to High Advanced. A little about me: I was a wildland fire fighter for five years before becoming an English teacher. This job is seasonal and it allowed me to travel which is my greatest hobby. I have also worked on several different cruise boats on the west coast of the USA and Alaska. I have travel to 49 of the 50 states (Hawaii is the missing one), Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Chile and Argentina. I spent the last year teaching and living in Santiago, Chile. While traveling I have experienced the Running of the Bulls, 180 m bungee-jummps, lived in the jungles of Central America, and swam 7 miles of the Panama canal. I am currently living in the US and working on another degree from the university. I am available for "Jump-In" classes almost daily and I hope to meet several students while working with EE. One of the main reasons I love my job so much is that I am constantly meeting delightful people. I think teaching English must be one of the most rewarding jobs around. I love exchanging information with people from different cultural backgrounds and feel privileged to introduce people to such an expressive and rich language.

My name is Howard Walls, I'm a native English speaker from Calgary,Alberta,Canada. I lived in Japan for almost 10 years as an English Instructor of all and ages levels from absolute beginner to advanced. I taught in many environments; Jr High School, High School,Jr. College and University. I also taught many hours of private conversation classes.
Although my current full time job is in the Oil and Gas industry, I am fortunate to have a flexible schedule which allows me the time teach English.
Why do I do this? Honestly I really enjoyed my years in Japan and I have a passion for teaching, it's really a hobby of mine. Having also studied Japanese I understand the challenges(and frustrations) of studying a second language. Also this technology allows students to learn in a comfortable environment and I think its an exciting opportunity for both teacher and student.

以前から受講していて時々ロールプレイや、例題を出されて応用したりと実践的にも役に立つレッスンがとてもありがたく気に入っています。生徒側から先生を評価するのは失礼ですが、あえて点数に直すと100点満点中150点の先生です。いつもの事ながら、私がどれ位理解出来ているかを、すばやく察知する頭の切れる先生です。レベルに合わせたボキャブラリーや文法をよく教えてくれます。出来る部分は軽く止まって通り過ぎ、出来ない部分は立ち止まって繰り返し練習させてくれます。自分が達成出来た時、一緒に喜んで励ましてくれる先生の態度に感謝しています。
--------------------------------------------------------------------レッスン内容だけでなく、雑談の時も間違いがあると聞き逃さず、きちんと訂正してくれます。おかげで苦手だった文法が少しずつですが、好きになってきています。わからなかった事が理解出来るようになると楽しいです。何回かこの先生のレッスンを受けてみて思うのは、先生自身がレッスンをリラックスして楽しんでいるという事です。その雰囲気が伝わって来て、間違えたり、うまく伝えられない時でもほとんどストレスを感じる事なく、レッスンを楽しむ事が出来ます。いつもの事なのですが、たどたどしい話し方しか出来ない時でも辛抱強く最後まできちんと聞いてくれます。私の受け答えや態度で理解度を瞬時に判断される事がよくあります。頭の切れる先生だと感心しています。

私の場合、今回はTOEFLのスピーキングコース対策としてクラスを取っておりますが、講師側でそのニーズを上手くくみ取ってくれて授業をしていただけていると思います。
-------------------------------------------------------------------Howardの場合は、TOEFL ibtのSpeaking section自体はあまり詳しくなかったようですが、(TOEFL pbt時代は講師をしていたようですが。)昨日、クラスの中でSpeaking sectionの点数を上げたいと伝えると、本日の授業ではスピーキングテストについて調べてき、模擬テストの様なクラスをしていただけました。非常にテスト対策として有効であると共に、生徒の要望に対する真摯な姿勢に非常に驚きました。

あらかじめ講師より数個のオプションが送られてきて、その中から自分について様々な質問が掲載されているものを選択しました。
それについて講師が私に質問をし、私がそれについて答えるという形式でレッスンを行いました。またその質問からさらに話を膨らませ質問を繰り返すという形で私に話す機会を多く与えてくれるレッスンでした。
【良かった点】
言いたいニュアンスで私が言えなかったところを訂正してくれた点。一方通行のレッスンではなく私に話す機会をたくさん与えてくれた点。
【講師の一番の特徴 - 人の良さ、指導力、感じの良さなど】
講師はとてもフレンドリーで感じのよい明るい方です。日本人講師は初めてだったので少し心配でしたが、それを感じさせることは全くありません。レッスンはほぼ全て英語で行われました。私は全て英語でレッスンを行いたかったのでそうしましたが、もし日本語での説明を望む方はそのようにすることも可能だと思います。私が言いたいニュアンスでうまく言えない時も、そのニュアンスをくみ取り適切な英語に訂正してくれる点は日本人講師ならではだと思いました。また話す機会が多く与えられ、どんどん内容を膨らませていくレッスンであり充実したレッスンでした。指導力に問題は全く感じませんでした。生徒に合わせたレッスンをすることができ、日本人講師ならではの利点を活かすことができる講師だとと思います。

I'm a highly experienced teacher who has taught all levels from beginner to proficiency classes. I have also taught exams classes such as IELTS and the Cambridge exams. I focus on grammar, vocabularly and pronunciation as well as the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. I believe working towards spoken fluency is a key skill. I always aim to work with my student in order to design a lesson that is at the right level of difficulty and that appeals to their interests in order for them to get as much as possible out of the lesson both in terms of learning and enjoyment.
I truly enjoy teaching and put a lot of energy and passion into it. I have many interests and hobbies and love meeting new people.

Hello,
I originally come from Scotland in the United Kingdom. After graduating from university, I moved to Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan to teach English. Altogether I lived in Japan for 5 years. They were very, very happy years!! Now I miss Japan very much. I especially miss eating miso soup for breakfast and going to onsen in my free-time. After leaving Japan, I taught English in Poland, Italy and the United Kingdom. Now, I am living in Miami, USA with my husband. He was transferred here through his work, so we are trying to build a new life together in America.
My hobbies include watching movies, reading books, hiking, doing aerobics and dance exercise, and teaching English.
I have a Cambridge diploma in teaching English and a certificate in teaching English to children.
